Từ nối trong tiếng Anh (Linking words hay Transitions) được sử dụng để liên kết thông tin giữa các câu giúp đoạn văn hay bài viết trở lên logic và chặt chẽ hơn. Hãy cùng VOCA tìm hiểu và nâng tầm Writing của bản thân với những từ nối thật “chất lượng” nhé!

Kiến thức về từ nối trong tiếng Anh hiện chưa được nhiều người học tiếng Anh xem trọng, nhưng đây là một trong những yếu tố giúp bài viết hay câu hỏi của người học trở nên mạch lạc và có sự liên kết uyển chuyển khi chuyển ý hơn.

1. Các loại từ nối trong tiếng Anh

1.1 Tương liên từ (Coordinators – C)

Tương liên từ là những từ hay cụm từ nối hay liên kết những mệnh đề độc lập, tương đương nhau về mặt chức năng.
Tương liên từ thường đứng giữa hai mệnh đề và sau dấu phẩy.

1.2 Liên Từ Phụ Thuộc (Subordinators – S)

Liên từ phụ thuộc là những từ hay cụm từ nối hay liên kết những mệnh đề khác nhau về chức năng: một mệnh đề chính và một mệnh đề phụ.

Khi liên từ phụ thuộc đứng ở đầu câu, sau mệnh đề chính phải có dấu phẩy.

After I researched the topic , I created the presentation.

Khi liên từ phụ thuộc đứng cuối câu, ta không dùng dấu phẩy.

I created the presentation after I researched the topic .

1.3 Từ Chuyển Ý (Transitions – T)

Từ chuyển ý được sử dụng để nối một số mệnh đề độc lập trong cùng một câu, hay nối một số câu trong một đoạn văn.
Khi từ chuyển ý nối 2 mệnh đề độc lập dưới 1 câu, hoặc 2 câu với nhau, nó phải đứng giữa 1 dưới 3 cặp dấu sau: chấm – phẩy, phẩy – phẩy, chấm phẩy- phẩy.

2. Cách dùng từ nối trong tiếng Anh

1) Bổ sung thông tin

9	Apart from	Ngoài	Apart from the low salary, it’s not a bad job.
10	Besides	Bên cạnh đó	She won't mind if you're late - besides, it's hardly your fault.

Những từ nối có tác dụng đưa ra ví dụ:
